Could someone please help me understand the 1st blank
Here Greg first solved the second blank and then choose the same exact word “literal” for the first blank
I know that literal is in the option and makes for obvious choice but I can’t understand why it is cooming there and also why can’t be unidimential be an answer
The first two blanks both have to do with how the scientists describe the language they use. Since we have the same people describing the same thing, we can use the same word for both blanks.
We are told that the scientists believe their language is more [something] than the figurative language used in fiction, which suggests a contrast: the scientists view their language as the opposite of figurative. Literal is a great antonym of figurative.
The main definition of “unidimensional” is something with only one dimension. When used metaphorically, unidimensional carries a negative connotation and means something is simple and lacks depth, more in line with calling something “shallow” or “superficial”.
