A Seemingly Impossible Problem 2: Electric Boogaloo

Why does he divide root3x in half? In a 30-60-90 triangle, the side opposite the 60 angle is root3x, why would he divide it in half here? Shouldn’t h= root3x?

AF : DF : AD are in a

30° : 60° : 90° relation so their sides are in a

m : m√3 : 2m relation. Using the length given in question,

m : m√3 : x.

In other words, x = 2m, so m= x/2

DF = m√3 = (x√3)/2
