Algebra Problem

So here’s the question:-

QUANTITY A: (x^2 - 4) / (x + 2)
QUANTITY B: x - 2

We know, (x^2 - 4) can be rewritten as (x+2)(x-2). So the (x+2) in the denominator will cancel out and we will be left with (x-2) which is equal to quantity B.

I chose the option: The two quantities are equal and was marked wrong,

Hint: x = -2
