Hi everyone,

I’m looking for help understanding what “generally decreasing in size” refers to in option C of question 23.

I initially thought option C was the best answer, but I got confused when I read the phrase “decreasing in size.” I wasn’t sure what was supposed to be decreasing in size, which led me to eliminate the answer. When I went back to the passage, I didn’t see any evidence that the particles were getting smaller.

It doesn’t say so explicitly, but you should see it if you read carefully. For example, it talks of atoms, then the constituents of atoms (that is nuclei, or the nuclear level), and then the sub-nuclear level. We can generally assume that the constituents are smaller than what they constitute.
