Hello,
Please I need help understanding the logic behind blank 2.
How could words, confined as they individually are to certain ------- meanings specified in a dictionary, eventually come, when combined in groups, to create obscurity and actually to prevent thought from being -------?
Here’s how I solved it.
For blank 1, I used block of 4,
when combined creates obscurity
individually provides clear meaning
for blank 2, I used math strategy
first idea is that there’s some sort of obscurity from these grouped words. Second ideas contains the blank. I noticed the word ‘actually’ which indicates a contrast.
This means whatever I put in the blanl should make the whole idea positive but we have ‘prevent’ before the blank, and it changes the logic of the sentence. So the blank become nagative. Guess word will be ‘obscured’
Please where did I get it wrong on my logic for blank 2.
This one is super tricky. “actually” functions like “in fact” and can sometimes be support and sometimes contrast. It actually functions as a support here when joined with the “and”.
Well done for doing the steps/logic diligently though!
Hi Ganesh, would you agree that ‘in reality’ can also act as both a support and contrast word. I want to be sure that I can notice this trick next time.
Example as a support word - “The movie was advertised as a fun comedy, and in reality, it had the whole theater laughing.”
Example as a contrast word - “It looks like a simple project, in reality, it’s far more complex than expected.”
