Please correct me where I went wrong for this question.

For this question, I tried to make a semantic guess. For blank 1, I chose the word ‘Certain’ because further in the sentence mentions ‘that lost certainty’. And for blank 2, I went with ‘Certainty‘ again.

Based on my semantic guess, I selected option 3.
Please help me figure out where I went wrong.
