Can not find evidence in question for the correct answer

In this question, I don’t find evidence for “anachronistic”. My guess, as you can see, was taken directly from the question and I marked the option that was similar to it which is apparently wrong. Please help me find evidence for “anachronistic” because I couldn’t find anything in the question that says ‘not related to the current period’, including ‘increasingly out of step’

Also, grammatically the part, “was an apostle of the noble but already ______ notions” doesn’t make sense to me.

In her later years … but already _____ notion is the clue

Can you specify reasons as to why this is a clue? “In her later years” doesn’t imply out of step for a particular period of time right?

Also, I don’t understand the sentence structure of but already _____

You can also approach this with logic.
noble (positive) but (contrast) already —(negative)—
Exotic isn’t necessarily a negative word. Anachronistic = out of date

out of step is another clue which means not in sync .

I came across this explanation but failed to understand why anachronistic is a negative term. For example, the stone age man using an iPhone is an anachronistic image. How is this negative?

Not belonging to a period of time can be positive or negative right?

Not belonging to a period of time and then being increasingly out of step then ultimately being alienated is definitely negative

Makes sense. With this explanation anachronistic fits. I made the mistake of equating out of step with not ordinary. Thanks!

Out of step = “not with the times”

Basically claiming that she was “past her prime”
