OK, try now?
Yeah, can see it now but the correct answer it is expecting is 1410. Instead of 1406
Thatâs fixed. Note that the difficulty has been reset, so instead of hard, you will need to filter for âto be determinedâ. Once enough people re-attempt the question, it will reflect the correct difficulty level.
Looks good now!
Im still having a bit of trouble understanding the 1406 answer. 1404 is a multiple of 3, which means 2 questions are added at the end of the day. So, how is the number of questions at 2? Wouldnât that mean that at the beginning of day 1404, the number of questions would have been at 0?
After 1401 days the number of questions left is 3. If the student solves the problems first thing in the morning wouldnât she have reached the last question on the morning of 1404? So shouldnt the answer be 1404?
I also found 1404. Do not get why answer is 1406.
Imagine you have 6 questions left.
After 3 days you are left with 3 questions. Then 2 questions are added. You have 5 questions.
Again after 3 days you solve 3 and 2 questions are left. 2 questions are added then 4 questions are left.
Again after 3 days you solved 3 and 1 question is left. 2 more added and 3 questions are left.
In the next 3 day cycle you solve all 3 questions before the addition of 2 questions. And process is done.
You solve 6 questions in 12 days.
You can formulate this for any number of questions:
You have x questions. Until you are left with 3 questions, on every 3 days you solve only 1 question(because you solve 3 and system adds 2). So you solve x-3 questions in 3(x-3) days. Then you are left with 3 questions to be solved in 3 days. Final formula: 3(x-3) + 3
Put 470 in the formula you get 1404.
Note. You can not left with 2 questions on the beginning of 3 day cycle it is impossible. It means that you solved all questions and system added 2 questions.
Many thanks to both of you - it indeed is 1404 as the student does the last problem on that day before two more problems are added.
This has been fixed.
