Authorities should prioritize addressing present-day issues over anticipating and planning for future dilemmas.
I mostly agree with the point stated for the following two reasons. However, in order to avoid crisis, it is essential that the future is predicted upto some degree. This is required so that we can prepare ourselves with necessary actions to avoid bigger crisis.
First of all, addressing present day issues before planning future dilemmas may resolve the need for planning the future all at once. Future is dependent on the past, that would be our current present. For e.g. if we understand it on individual level, suppose a person preparing for GRE and they anticipate the need to improve their speed in their first week of preparation and start working on it. Using this example we can understand that it might be the case the student speed might on his limited knowledge on basics then required. Therefore, hindering him to answer questions quickly. Instead, if the student prepared for GRE thorough enough with strong hold of basics. Maybe he might not need to prepare for his speed separately. We tend to work on future planning and avoid any surprises, without even realising that resolving the current problem might possibly remove or atleast reduce the chance of future problem from occuring.
Second of all, future is highly unpredicatable and no one knows what can happen even in upcoming few hours. Predicting the future dilemmas is like preparing for something that might not even come up as a problem. Hence, this time to plan for future dilemmas could be utilize the current more necessary issues in the present for betterment of everyone. For e.g. Politician thinks that in the recent changes in taxes, might bring out the strike among the middle class public. However, they don’t address the current tension among the public based on religion. Therefore, it is possible that in future, instead of strike, there is ongoing civil war amongst the public based on reilgion. On other hand, if the politician would have handled the current tension in a well defined manner, the general public might appreciate their effort for helping resolve the possible internal war. And hence, they might appreciate the need of taxes for the betterment of the country instead of calling out strike against the new tax regime.
However, I also thing that anticipating and planning for future should not be eliminated all at once. As, being prepare beforehand help us to reduce the damage to a lot extent. For e.g. Buildings have emergency exit, this does not mean that every building might need one. But still incase of some fire or earthquake, having the emergency exit beforehand can save a lot more lives than the building with no emergenct exit. If the authorities have not thought about the future, the building plans wouldn’t contain these emergency exits and which could be potentially bring up lot of problems.
In conclusion, addressing present day issues is much more required over anticipating and planning for the future. However, we should also be ready with the future plan in case of emergencies to handle the situation in better way.
