Combinatorics

I am sharing screen shot of a question outside the greg math content.

I tried using combinatorics to solve

working below

1-(4/54/54/51/45/8)5!

Could you please advice on the same why the above method aint working ?

Why are you multiplying by 5!?

If 0 represents a “fail” and a 1 represents a pass then for the case of failing all subjects, you’re looking for this specific tuple (outcome):

(M, E_n, E_c, A, B)= (0,0,0,0,0).

There are no other tuples to consider.

Other than that, your idea of finding the complement (by doing 1 - failing all) is fine.
