Coming up with one word in TC

While practicing TC question, sometimes I can reuse the word from the supporting / contrasting idea but other when I’m not able to find the good word and I don’t get the word to fill the blanks but I know the kind of word that will fit there. So, I look at the answer choices and apply the elimination strategy there and mostly able to find the right choice.

I’m thinking is this a correct way or should I put more emphasis on coming up with my word first ?

Yeah you really should avoid the answer choices if possible. If you cant think of a word, come up with a phrase at least, your guess doesn’t have to be a word.
