A circle has to be in the form (x^2)+(y^2)=k
I didn’t pick these options because each option also gives (x^1) or (y^1) terms along with the 2nd degree of x and y. What is wrong in my understanding here?
Option D gives: (x^2)-4x+(y^2)=32.
Option E gives: (x^2)+4x-(y^2)=-4.
Option F gives: (x^2)+18y-(y^2)=130
You can rearrange them though?
Sure. That gives me (x^2 + y^2) in Option D, but it also gives me an additional x term. My question is whether that additional x makes any difference to us? Why/why not?
How? D is literally in the format you’ve been asked to check. Where’s the additional x term?
Option D: ((x^2)+(y^2))-4x=32
My understanding from the PrepSwift videos is that a circle is graphed with (x^2)+(y^2)=k.
Here we have ((x^2)+(y^2))-kx=8k.
Please correct me if I’m wrong.
It says in the hint that the format can be (x - p)^2 + (y - q)^2 = r^2.
Do not expand the option.
