Doubt in question - Math/ algebra

Hi! I could not solve this…

Big Book - Test 12 - Section 1 - Exercise 8

It states that

X>Z
Y>Z

The option A is X+Y
The option B is Z

Question: For me its obvious that the anwer is A, but actually is D. Can someone help with an example that Z could be equal or higher than X+Y?

Thanks!

Assume X, Y & Z are negative and X =-1 ,Y= -1.5 while Z = -2 .
Given,
X=-1 > Z=-2 —True
Y= -1.5 > Z= -2 – True
Now looking at Qty A
X+Y which is -2.5
and Qty B
Z which is -2 —> Here Qty B> Qty A and as u said u already figure out the values for making Qty A> Qty B. Hence, our ans is D

Thank you so much! Helped a lot! :slight_smile:
