Hi! in the 5th question, I had a doubt, and here’s my approach->
For the 1st blank I knew it’s a type of review that challenges the existing style/or whatever the author has written in the book.(I was inclined towards adverse since it’s a negative word, I didn’t know the meaning of hortatory so I kept it in the mix, eliminating abstruse)
For the Second Blank->
I knew it referred to the issue at hand that the book review/reviewer had with the book she reviewed. I eliminated strengths because that’s in contradiction with the blank. I was left with either assumptions or transgressions.
Now here’s where I went wrong, I “thought” not sure if it’s bringing in outside knowledge, that having assumptions is pretty bad, and I thought transgressions would be too much of a negative word, also I always thought a transgression was carried out by a person… clearly I was wrong…
But, my question is why is assumptions wrong?, is it because inherently an assumption isn’t bad? and no where in the sentence did the author say “wrong assumptions” ?
