Doubt regarding a TC question in the latest GRE Big book live class

Hey, this question is from the recent live class , where the Big Book TC questions were taken up for practice.

Question

My Doubt is regarding another possibility in the first blank if we don’t see the options.

Possibility : “;” (semi-colon) suggest a support between the the two ideas.
Idea 1- The Gibsons ------ in any form.
Idea 2- not one of them afraid----,

If they are not afraid, this means little given into ___ should also mean not afraid. Therefore, can I put , little given into FEAR as a semantic guess ?
And should I see the options in this situation and revert back to another semantic guess ?

Would love you know your thoughts on this.
Thanks !

The problem you’re running into is that neither of your two ideas is complete, since there are blanks in both.

If you use the final clause to predict blank ii, then you will have a complete “idea 2” with which you can predict blank i.
