How can I handle the word “even as” as a contrast when is in the middle of the sentence? For example:
This year is raining a lot in the city, but the government is taking measures to protect infraestructure. It looks like the city is getting more (ii)_____ even as its power flow becomes less (iii)_____
Clearly is the blank in between a contrast, so is a negative (-) . The word less gives is a negative too (-). I believe that the second blank is a negative because the government is taking measures , so (-). So, using the math strategy the first blank is (-)(-)(-)=(-) . The answer for the first blank is wetter and the answer for the second is destructive. But as you can see my interpretation for the first blank was wrong because I thought it has a negative connotation, but wetter has a negative connotation?
