For this Questions , i have followed back solving approach as a vertex would lie on the parabola i.e the point should satisfy the parabola equation.

I got B(-5,-18) option right , -18= (-5)^2 + 8(-5) - 3 = 25 - 40 - 3 = 25 - 43 = -18
but in solution video Greg has followed CTS method and got D(-4,-19) .
Can anyone please clear my doubt .

You only checked whether the point is on the graph. That point doesn’t need to be the vertex.
