In my mock tests, I’ve noticed that I struggle with time management in the last section of Quant. When the section becomes harder due to the adaptive algorithm, I can’t complete all the questions within the time limit. I find it difficult to allocate time wisely for each question, and in my attempt to answer everything, I make careless mistakes. When I am doing these harder questions patiently, I do figure out the solution. It’s just the damn time that is lowering my score. What is the best approach to handle this? Also, how many questions can I skip in the more challenging Quant section to still achieve a score of at least 165?
You need practice, a lot of it. The careless mistakes are a mindset problem if you can solve them in an untimed manner, stop skipping steps no matter how fast you may be able to get the answer done. Read the question, write the data, read it again, then solve it. Get used to 105s per quant question and refer to the 2-month plan week-8 time management modules to understand how to budget your time during the test. Finally, depending on the type of questions you get, anywhere between 2-4 skipped questions can bump you down from a 170 to a 165.
