Can anyone tell me if my process is right?
In general, I found it hard to apply connotation so used semantics more
- I think the only hint is the part after comma in the second idea “each government…public” → which implies that the deal must be a secret, so use “secret” for blank 2
- If the deal is a secret and if the details becoming public would be bad, then probably for blank 1, the regimes don’t like each other and use a word like “loathe” in blank 1
I also have two questions:
3. Would it be correct to say that the two ideas “the two regimes that…help” and “a ___ deal…public” support each other? I say this because of the semi colon + “thus”
4. This is also related to #3, does “Paradoxically” bring a contrast within idea 1 or between idea 1 and idea 2?
Thanks
