Here I read the the word “demanding” and identified the supporting ideas. My guess was “critical” thinking “if he was demanding of others, he must have been critical of them” and chose “acerbic” and “scathing”. I understand that my thought process involves a little bit of storytelling, but I have come to understand that some ETS questions do require a degree a storytelling. Can any experts help me with what can I drill to correct my process?
Storytelling is not a good idea. We do use logic at times, but it’s “must be true” logic rather than “makes sense to us” logic. It must be nearly inarguable, i.e., “must be true”. Most of the time, however, the sentence just repeats if there’s support.
Notice it’s quite possible Chase’s contemporaries get mad and subject him to “scathing” analyses, but maybe they’re way too chill for that. We are better off sticking with words that mean “demanding” without bringing in anything new.
Thanks for your response Vince. What would you drill if you were me here?
