How to gauge if prepared enough for the test?

For some context, I’ve been prepping using the 5lb book for the last few weeks, just discovered greg mat a couple days ago and its definitely awesome

I feel pretty underprepared for the test, and so was planning to postpone it, especially verbals but then I saw that greg mentioned the 5lb book isn’t good for verbals, so I went ahead and took one of the powerprep tests to gauge myself, and got a 155V,168Q.

My question is, given that currently I’ve registered for 2nd August, is that enough time to grind on verbals using the one month plan and get to that 160, maybe 165. Or should I postpone the test?

I’d also love to know about what’s the ideal time to write GRE, when I looked at a few colleges they seem to open applications in Sept, for Fall’24, which is why I wanted to write this early august

No one can guarantee that studying for x_hours will translate to x_scores in GRE.

Also, a jump in 5 points in verbal means you went from (160): 84 percentile to (165):95 percentile (155 is 65 percentile).

Depends, do you really need such high scores in both verbal and quant section ? (I don’t think any schools has such requirement for both the sections.)

Or are you planning to apply on schools based on the scores?
