How to improve 4 points GRE

I took the GRE two weeks ago, I scored a total of 301 points 156Q 145V 3.5AWA. The program I am applying for, requires 305 minimum. I actually thought that 4 points short are no big deal and I should get the admission. However, I got a harsh reply saying that my score is unfortunately not enough. Nevertheless, I am willing to go for a retake in the hope of matching the required score of 305. The only possible date I can go for is 4th October 2021. I cannot go any later, as it will be too late and I would miss the admission.

The one million dollar question is, how can I improve my score by 4 points in around 3 weeks.

Let me talk you through my prep for my previous test, I preped for around 10 days only. I started with power prep 1 mock test to get a baseline score, I scored 296, 154Q 142V. I used Kaplan and official materials. I did not know about Gregmat then. My focus was mainly on quants, I really did not care about the verbal part much, I looked through magoosh vocabulary list and that was about it. I took Manhattan mock and scored 306 (I don’t remember the sections scores) and I took pp2 few days before the exam and got 301, 155Q 146V.

I was almost confident that I would get 160+ in the quant given that I did some silly mistakes in the mocks, (what happened then?) The questions in the real exam are nowhere near the questions in the official materials and mocks. It is not about silly mistakes but I got really tough questions that I was not able to solve at all.

Finally, I am planning to focus on verbal now and give it some serious attention. Thank you very much and look forward for your suggestions.

i think what you should do is go through verbal videos of greg’s. The strategies alone should be sufficient to take your score 4 points up. Now, should you aim for even better score, i would suggest going through ‘week before GRE’ and vocab videos. For Quants i would suggest skipping the questions you are finding difficult and focus on all the possibilities. solve a few questions from ‘Solve Quant problems’ section under members area. for AWA there are two videos under writing section that should help. All the best.

EDIT: Gre 318 from 299 in pp1 this may also help
