I am preparing for the GRE currently. I also need to talk the IELTS/TOEFL soon to apply to US/Canadian schools. Which test is is better so I can apply both to US/Canada?
Depends on whether you’re leaning towards Canada or the US. I would go with the IELTS in the former case and with TOEFL in the latter.
That said, these tests are used interchangeably most of the time, so it would not be the greatest issue, whichever way you choose to go. Just log on to the websites of the schools you’re aiming for, and see if they accept both or not.

TOEFL ibt focuses on academic English; IELTS, however, is more about daily using English. So in terms of difficulty, most people think TOEFL is slightly harder.
See the webpage your desired university to find what exams they accepts. In case they accept both then you can choose either of them as they are both basically the same.
P.S. - IETLS is much cheaper when it comes to sending scores.
