Manhattan 5lb issue

Here’s a question from 5lb, in the answer he says that “x + y is divisible by 6” is the only possibility.

He used some initial 3 multiples. But what if I say

x = 48*18 and y = 48*12 i.e 48th multiples of both. Now xy is divisible by 48. How to tackle this type of situation, this is not the only one, I have found many other questions like this.


Which of the following statements “must” be true
Divisibility with 48 by true only for some cases
Whereas divisibility by 6 is true for all cases
