Need advice on Verbal... PP1 (154V160Q) -> PP2 (147V,170Q)

Need Advice on Verbal …PP1(154V,160Q) → PP2(147V, 170Q)

I’m honestly quite devastated by the drop in verbal score….

TL:DR, PP2 quant was a lot easier for me than PP1’s, I took each test about one month apart from each other.

During this time, I religiously went through gregmat’s vocal list, made my way to roughly 4-500 words and decided to try another mock to gauge my progress.

Needless to say, I absolutely flunked the verbal section. PP2’s verbal section was absolutely brutal, I scored 3/12 on the first section versus the second section where I scored 12/15.

It’s very strange because when I was studying for the GMAT, my verbal skills were always my strong trait, as opposed to my quantitative skills. However, after joining the GRE, that has definitely not been the case.

I’m definitely extremely happy with the quant improvement though, I’m thinking this might partially be due to PP2 being an easier mock? (I finished each quant section with 4-5minutes to spare, and managed to make 1-2 careless changes along the way). But other than that I scored everything right for quant.

Wonder if anyone could chime in the difficulty of PP1 vs PP2’s quant based on their personal experience?

Also really stuck on verbal…. I felt like I scored a lot better before I went on this complex verbal journey of word pairing and strategies… I’m really stuck w verbal and trying to gauge best next steps. For ref, I finished all PrepSwift verbal topics and might have to opt for the 1-2 month gregmat verbal courses - also I am currently 300/900 for Verbal Mountain… I’m on month 2 of gregmat subscription and absolutely loved the prepswift section for quant (only used it for coordinate geometry and geometry).

Any advice would be lovely… thanks!

Hi, sorry for the late response.

I think they are similar, but PP2 scoring is very harsh so maybe its easier.

This is actually normal sometimes when you switch to the strategies. There might be an initial drop in score while you’re getting better at the strategies.

It looks like maybe a lack of vocab then.
