Hello all, I am having a hard time understanding the explanation provided for the following question:
“If x and y are integers and x/y=1.8, which of the following is true?”
The explanation provided is “y/x =1.8 implies that y does not divide x. This means that y is not a factor of x. We can also show that y/x = 5/9 is not an integer as well, which means that x does not divide y, and that x is not a factor of y either.”
I want to double check that this explanation is saying that y is not a factor of x and x is not a factor of y because the resulting number, 1.8. is not a whole number. Is that correct?
