Hello all, this feels like a silly question - we know they are referring to -7 and 11 in the question. Why isn’t the distance between the two of them 11 - (-7) + 1? If I were to count on my fingers starting with -7 and going to 11, inclusive, that is 19 digits. Why is the method different here than in the cases where we are finding the total number of integers within an interval? Thanks!
We’re talking about distance, not the number of integers between an interval. Notice that the distance between 1 and 1 is 0, but there’s one number in that (inclusive) interval.
