I gave gre 3times and got quant from 140→150→155 and my verbal went from 140→145→132 idk how but my verbal went to low. So i am worried about should i give gre again for 4th time because my gpa is too low(3.09) and gre is main hurdle i think for me it will push me but I got the ptsd of gre now I fear to take test and as I can improve my quant, because in quant time was main thing and I can improve it. As this is November 2025 and I want to apply for master for 2026 fall should I give one more try or there would not be any improvement?
Competitive exams = emotional game + application of intelligence.
Maybe your score dropped in verbal because you blanked out or couldn’t think because of fatigue.
It is important to diagnose what went wrong in order to correct it. The scores are just the result, we don’t know what went on during preparation and on the test days.
I would recommend booking a session with a general tutor and truly evaluating your preparation journey to see if giving another attempt makes sense for you.
I personally would ask you to give another attempt because at this stage, your scores aren’t a true reflection of your capabilities and if I were you, I would correct it.
Work on improving your fundamentals both for quant and verbal. No point booking tests when you’re not ready, unless a deadline is looming. My quant didn’t improve much (163Q to 164Q) but verbal went from 155V to 161V over 6 weeks. I memorized more words, more connotations, and more practice questions while analyzing structure - also worked through strategies for TC/SE & RC.
My theory is there is some luck that plays in this exam. If it hits topics you’re familiar with, your score can vary by plus/minus a couple points.
Edit: I also booked a gregmat tutor to help with verbal; however, I think you should be at a certain foundation level. The session helped show me there are levels to this (i.e. 155 vs 165+) and I wasn’t even close (lol).
