While practicing pairing strategy I stumbled upon this question
Isn’t venal meaning corrupt and decadent meaning lacking moral values which is essentially corrupt.Why then we can’t pair them.On Google venal has corrupt as a similar word and decadent also has corrupt as a similar word.
While both venal and decadent are considered synonyms for corrupt, they align with different meanings of the word. Just because two words share a synonym doesn’t mean they’re synonyms with each other. For example, both “intelligent” and “shining” are synonyms of the word bright, but intelligent and shining aren’t synonyms with each other.
