Penalties for using British English spellings in AWA?

Hi, I wanted to ask if there are any penalties/disadvantages for using the British spellings of certain words as opposed to the American ones (eg, colour vs color, realise vs realize).

I can try to be mindful of my spellings if it will cause issues but just in case I slip up, would there be any issues?

GRE is American based so you should probably go for American spellings, although they won’t penalize but there are chances the automated essay correction software is trained for American English so better safe than sorry
