Hi all, so the original question actually said that the expenditure lied between 1/3 and 1/4 of Kate’s income. But the solution assumed equality, due to which option E was also correct. Any specific reason for why we assumed equality here for both minimum and maximum income despite “between“ mentioned?

- However, it doesn’t even matter in this specific question because the 5th option is $53,808 but the boundary value is $53,880 (Last two digits swapped). So option E or the 5th option is still one of the correct answers.
The range can be assumed to be implicitly inclusive; see point 5 on https://www.ets.org/pdfs/gre/gre-math-conventions.pdf (page 13).
But I think that’s not a range in a general way. Maybe semantics, but there is no “to” mentioned with 1/3 and 1/4. It’s written “between“ so the value definitely lies within the ratios. The source you gave points to a range mentioned with “to“.
