Assuming the events are completely dependent, as in one “circle” sits within another circle in its entirety, the probability of A or B occurring is simply the larger probability of the two (see picture below). Assuming the events are mutually exclusive (as in completely separate) the maximum OR probability is adding the two up (see picture below). That means we have established a minimum value of 1/2 and a maximum value of 1/2 + 1/3 = 5/6.
