Problem with Quant Strategy Session 2 Homework

Hoping someone could help me with this question. This is the homework from Quant Strategy Session 2.

The answer is Quantity B because according to Pythagorean equation x^2 + y^2 = z^2 when the angle is 90 degrees; therefore z^2 must be larger in this case, since the angle is >90 degrees

However, couldn’t I infer that the angle for y and x is say 40 degrees, so 100:40:40. And in that case, couldn’t I infer length z is 8, and length y and x is 6 (triangle inequality theorem holds since 6+6 >8).

With this in mind, x^2 + y^2 > z^2 : 36 + 36 > 64.

In short, isnt the answer D instead of B?

Appreciate any guidance.

Much appreciated, thank you.
