I tried solving and reached to a point where
(5/sqrt2 <k < 8/sqrt 2)
ultimately it boils down to
(2.1 <k<9.1)
and the difference is 7.0 satsifies the condition of being an integer. Why it’s 6 though?
5 < k \sqrt{2} < 8
This is not true.

Ok so to solve this problem, we have to set parameters for k (root 2). we know this value as a whole cannot be smaller than 3 and larger than 13. so, what i did was try to find the closest value of k (root 2) to 13, which is when k = 9. then, i tried to find the smallest value of k (root 2) closest to 3, which was when k = 3. 9-3=6, and thus the solution. hope this helps! i can’t find the radical symbol so i hope this isn’t too confusing.
