Quant Basics Quiz, Level 2, Q18

Why does the toppings options = 2^5? Rather than 5?

If the toppings was a single select, we would have 5 options:

[Topping 1] OR [Topping 2] OR … [Topping 5]

But since it’s a multi select, each topping becomes its own choice. You have to go through each topping and ask if you want it or not:

  • Topping 1 - YES OR NO
  • Topping 2 - YES OR NO
  • Topping 5 - YES OR NO

So we have 5 choices with 2 options each, so it’s 2^5.

Does that make sense?
