However, computing the value of the entire expression with a3 seemed to be super hard, considering there were radicals involved. The solution too wasn’t very detailed. Any explanations on how to go about it?
We did not expect students to compute the expression without a calculator.
Then what did you expect? How would we reach the solution 2 ?
Why cause confusion and frustration.
We expected students to use a calculator to find a_3. That’s also why there’s a hint in that the terms of the sequence are all integers.
