I always found this passage difficult in terms of answering the questions even after attempting multiple times.
Can anyone help me in understanding the following?

  1. Is “rock music “ and “popular music” the same thing?
  2. Which line or phrase in the passage indicates that the musical styles are “apparently disparate”?
  3. Also what I understood from the last line-
    PG’s music is amended in a way that it incorporates popular elements to classical music and the classical music has been created as a high art for rock listeners.
    Is the comprehension okay?

  1. yes, we can tell rock is a type of popular music since the 2nd sentence is elaborating on the discussion of Glass’s use of popular music in the 1st sentence.

  1. I think it’s the last sentence because it shows 2 ways of presenting the music to rock and classical listeners
    but I’m confused with the word “apparently” because in line 6 it also says, “which from its early days shared certain harmonies and rhythms”

I think the 2nd to last sentence justifies choice C “…from its early days” = longstanding.

Also rock and classical are the two disparate styles.
