Regarding TC homework question confusion

Why not ‘wasted’ here. If we don’t look at the options and do the strategies, the second idea says he truly accepted the policy’s assumptions. Why would that imply only the attacks to be weakened and not wasted? What specific part in the question please?

The Big Book has many, many questions where a usage elimination is possible. This is one of them: you can’t really say an attack was wasted by something. The current GRE has vanishingly few questions in which you can make a usage elimination which is why I minimize the use of the Big Book and tell people to carefully analyze the more recent ETS books.

So your logic was sound for “wasted” - it’s just a usage issue, i.e. “wasted” sounds awkward here.
