Roots Rules Cubed vs Squared

Why no mod sign when X is cubed? because GRE only allows positive, we ensure to Mod when X is present as squared power. What is the concept behind this?

x can be negative.

Plug in a negative number into each equation. You will see that the absolute value is necessary for the sqrt(x^2) = |x|, but that it isn’t needed for cuberoot(x^3) = x.
