SE and TC question

Ever a demanding reader of the fiction of others, the novelist Chase was likewise often the object of _____ analyses by his contemporaries.

A. exacting
B. copious
C. respectful
D. acerbic
E. scathing
F. meticulous
i am unable to understand above problem. In SE and TC video, greg has said likewise is +ve and demanding is also +ve so that gives us a positive result and blank has to be positive
But how is demanding reader positive? It should be negatove right?

It is important to review what positive or negative mean with regard to the Math Strategy. Math Strategy says that if there is a support between two ideas, then the ideas should be the same. It also says if there is a contrast between two ideas, then the ideas should be opposite.

Saying both ideas are positive or both ideas or negative just means they are the same idea. Similarly, saying one idea is positive and one is negative just means they are opposite ideas. Positive and negative are not statements about how “good” or “bad” something is.

In this example, there are 2 ideas: “Chase holds other fiction writers to high standards” and “Chase likewise received ____analyses by his contemporaries”. The word likewise suggests a support, meaning both of these ideas are the same. If he holds others to high standards, then they likewise hold him to high standards, so he would receive an exacting or meticulous analysis from his contemporaries. Thus, (A) & (F) are correct.

I hope this helps!
