Similar Triangle Math Fundamentals/Basics Quiz: Level 2 Q13

how are you supposed to be able to solve this problem? Even though the triangles are similar you don’t have a height to be able to multiply by?

The top triangle is \frac{1}{2} X H_1 = 5 but that doesn’t give me enough to determine the other lengths, right?

I figured it out. The specifics of X and H_1 don’t matter since they are both scaled by the same amount.

Yeah, specifics don’t matter. As long as you understand that both the smallest and the largest are similar you can express their areas as a ratio.
