Test on June 29th

Hello everyone,

I have been following the two month’s plan for my GRE preparation and things are going well. I have attempted the PP1 test and got a score of 309(145V, 164Q). My goal is to score 320+(Preferably 325). I am through 2.5 weeks of videos and group 14 of vocab sheet. I know there is still a long way to go. I wanted some guidance regarding how my upcoming preparation should be.

From the PP1 score, it is clear that my Quant is robust, and I need to work on my Verbal. That being said, should I just focus on Verbal videos? I have my semester exams in the next month, so I am low on time. I have 1.5 months since I have scheduled the test which will be on 29 June 2023. While surfing through Reddit, I came to know that the difficulty of the GRE has increased this year. Should I be concerned about this and prepare accordingly?

Any feedback on this would be much appreciated since I would be able to take the most benefit of my time and the resources provided by Greg through gregmat+.

Hi, I took the exam earlier this year, and had to carve out time to study due to other obligations. Despite also being more strong in Quant, I opted to complete the plan for both Quant and Verbal. If you have a strong quant foundation, it may be more time-efficient to focus just on homework during the quant foundational videos, then spend more time on the skill building and strategy quant videos. I would also suggest being very intentional in identifying mistakes and gaps in knowledge in homework and exercises, to see if you truly do understand the relevant topics to great depth.

That means raising around 15 marks in verbal ; while also maintaining your score in Quant. I personally feel like going from 145 → 150 will be easier but going from 150 ->155 (hard) and 156-> 160 will be very hard . Also, as ETS peeps don’t update their PPs (PowerPrep) or PPPs(PowerPrepPlus) ;hence, the level of difficultly on the real test will definitely be harder than your PP. Thus, personally I don’t think you should just do verbal section only but instead follow the plan as it is !

Sure. I will keep this in mind. Thanks.
