So here I can’t use the math strategy right cause there are two blanks on both the sides. Also, I can’t use the time contrast cause they have not mentioned two different time periods. So could you please tell me which strategy should I use?
Can you tell me a little more on how will you tackle this (Just type whatever comes in your mind after seeing this question , doesn’t matter if it’s right or wrong)
Yes sure!
So for the first blank I thought “Important”, and for the second I thought “strange”.
and what word/phrases from the question led you to come up with these choices (basically your reasoning)
So I saw Predilection which means to have liking towards something, so it must be important for him.
And he had Predilection towards I guess physical disease? Oh got it so the answer would be pivotal and Moribund. I thought pivotal means a twisting point but the synonyms include words like important and crucial. I’m sorry for the trouble and thank you for your patience.
Your reasoning for the first blank is correct. The playwright’s predilection, or preference, for making physical disease a factor in the action does indeed suggest that it is an “important” or “pivotal” element in his works.
As for the second blank the term “strange” in-general is a little far fetched because the term “strange” generally refers to something unusual or surprising, which doesn’t quite fit the context here. The sentence indicates that the playwright has a preference for making physical disease a factor in his works. This suggests that the subject matter he focuses on is not just unusual, but rather has a specific quality related to physical disease.
Thus, given that the subject matter is related to physical disease, a good choice that could fit the second blank might be “grim” or “dark”. These words capture the serious and potentially distressing nature of physical disease.
Ohh okayy So I should be careful with the words that I input. But, this is where I struggle the most. I don’t know exactly what words to put in the blank. In most of the questions where math strategy is required I usually say that the blank might be positive or negative, either good or bad. No other words strike into my mind.
You will definitely need to practice this as this is not something you do everyday. Force yourself to come with guesses for each blank and sooner or later you will get there.
Okay got it👍🏻 I’ll try to implement it. Thank you so much for your help!
