Hello everyone! I took the GRE last year and unfortunately didn’t perform well, scoring only a 282. My goal is to reach a 300 or better . I’ve invested a significant amount of money into preparing for the exam, using resources like Magoosh and paying for tutoring sessions on Wyzant, but nothing has really worked so far. I’m wondering if the tutoring on GregMat is worth it. I need a tutor who can guide me through problems step by step.
With a 282, you need foundational work - I’d recommend working through the I’m Overwhelmed Study Plan carefully instead. It may well be that even that is too hard for you, in which case you’ll need to consider temporarily shifting down into something like Khan Academy for quant - you’ll get an idea after finishing the first few quizzes.

Piggybacking off what Leaderboard said, a tutor is like the icing on the cake. You still need to bake the cake. That’s where carefully working through the overwhelmed plan and using khan academy and ChatGPT as backup will help. With that said, using a tutor to help you get unstuck on certain concepts may be a good idea. Practicing questions with Magoosh, etc. is premature.
