Hello, Could some one tell me why answer choice (a) is wrong. Is it primarily because of overturned being a more strong word or is it because the last sentence where the author’s opinion is more addressed in the answer choice (e) but not in (a). OR, is it going to be both?Thank you for your response.
I got confused because Pessen presented stats and author is conceding the point. Ever if i look at the last sentence, the ‘overestimates’ is only about the time period.
@gregmat
What’s your evidence that Pessen’s study “overturned” anything?
Author’s conceding that Pessen presents stats and examples to say that Jacksonian America was not an egalitarian society made me choose ‘A’
What do you think overturned means?
It is invalidated or cancelled right
Yeah, like Einstein’s general theory of relativity overturned Newton’s theory of gravity. There is no evidence that Pessen overturned anything. If you think there is, please write it verbatim here.
I believe i was making a lot of inferences here. Yes, there is no evidence, thankyou.
