Hello guys so my GRE is scheduled for the 23rd of August. As of right now I’m halfway through the gregmat 1 month plan. Do yall suggest that I just continue to do the plan until test day? My verbal definitely needs more attention than my quant. However, I feel like it would be unwise to not review quant as well because while my quant score is much higher than my verbal score, I’m no math expert.
Also, Im at the point of the study plan where I am essentially reviewing all the RC strategies and doing practice problems concerning RC. But I feel like my TC and SE isn’t where I need it to be. I was wondering how I should move forward, please let me know what you think.
I feel you should brush up your vocab and use Greg’s strategy of pair formation for SE. I used to disparage my skills of being unable to solve SE correctly. However, after application of Greg’s strategy and following the pictorial flashcards, I can verify Greg’s verbatim, “SE is easy money”. Also, I go through the words I forget on a daily basis. I have them stuck on my wall. Morning, when I wake up, I thoroughly go through them. Also, you can go through Greg’s Mini vocab quizzes. Pretty interactive stuff!
For TC, solve as many questions as possible. I do not have much to suggest here, since it has always been my strong suit. I would like to enforce here that, I have learnt to apply Greg’s tricks, which has indeed made me solve the questions way ahead in time. The aim should be to maximise SE and TC and then focus on RCs. Now this is my approach. Also, please write 7-8 mock papers (doesn’t have to be ETS). Many would disagree. I personally feel GRE is more of a test of endurance than it is of Math and English. No matter what people say, the exhaustion of ~5 hours is a huge factor that plays during the exam. A cardinal reason why many underperform. Exhaustion + Nervousness / Stress. Do not neglect math in the process on concentrating on English. Very important. Brush your concepts and learn to skip questions and first attempt the ones that you are sure of and able to solve fast. Mark the others. Come back, take a deep breath and resume. Hope this helps.
Lastly, this is the optimum time to start taking mocks. Write a mock exam every alternate day and review them thoroughly. Next day before taking the mock try to go through those questions and concepts.
Also, I missed out something important. If you already know the concepts there is no point of following the one month course plan punctiliously. I believe you should solve all the Problem of the Day and the practice sets available to members more and wherever you are getting stuck due to conceptual errors, review meticulously those areas. If I were you, I would be honing my skills already imbibed rather than feeling complacent about finishing a course. I hope that helps. Good luck.
