In this question from 2024 Edition with ETS Material) TC and SE Strategy - Session 3, Greg says that the highlighted part is positive since she stopped herself from suggesting something. However, I interpreted it as a negative connotation as the conference was near collapse and might produce nothing of significance, which is a bad thing. In such a situation which part of the sentence takes priority? Why can the idea not be interpreted as the latter?
Just because she might have suggested something, that doesn’t mean it’s true. If we knew this idea was true, then it would definitely be negative, but we don’t know that it’s near collapse, it might be fine.
