3 consecutive integers (I am Overwhelmed plan Module 1 Part 4, first video)

“a+3, b+3, and c-3, are 3 consecutive integers. What is c-a?”
This is from the I am Overwhelmed plan Module 1 Part 4, first video.

I picked a=0, b=-1, and c=7, which yields 3,2,4 (or 2,3,4). I got c-a=7, but the correct answer is 8. I am a bit confused - if I see a question like this on the GRE, can I assume that (a+3), (b+3), and (c-3) are necessarily in the order listed?

I kind of thought that picking numbers would yield the correct difference regardless of order, but I realize now the order for sure matters.

Thank you!

Did you read the note below the video?

So, b+3 cannot be less than a+3 for example.
