So for this problem, my gut went with answer D, as while it is obvious that the thousandths place of the 12.5x9 number is an integer greater than 5, the problem never specifically identifies the decimal place of x being in that thousandths place. Does anybody else read the problem similarly/differently?
I think you need a refresher about rounding numbers
try like this, there is a number 12.15_9. You can Put 0 to 9 in the gap. If you put 5 to 9 then it would be 12.1559, 12.1569…,12599. Now if you round that, you’ll get 12.16.

Thanks! I never saw the “x” as a blank…somehow registered in my brain as 10^9
