7 Days to Test, Struggling with Quant Consistency

Hey guys, it’s been about 2 weeks since I completed GregMat’s one-month plan, and I’m facing a frustrating situation with my quant scores.

My Score Progression:

  • Week 1 mock: 161Q/154V (surprised myself, guessed on about half the questions)

  • Week 2-3 mocks: 154Q and 156Q

  • PowerPrep 1 (untimed): 163Q

  • PowerPrep 2 (timed, today): 156Q (Hard Section 2)

What I’ve Identified: After reviewing my mistakes across GregMat and PowerPrep tests, I’ve noticed a clear pattern. Most errors stem from:

  • Failing to identify question types and apply the appropriate strategy (especially apparent on the telescoping series problems)

  • Careless execution mistakes (e.g., forgetting to add 1 when counting elements between x and y, entering x instead of 1-x for “reduced by what fraction” questions)

This was especially apparent in today’s PowerPrep 2. Here I got 10/12 on the first section correct, but by the second section my performance collapsed to 8/14 (ran out of time on one of them).

My Situation:

  • Target scores: 165Q / 155V / 3.5AWA

  • I’m comfortable with Verbal and AWA. (been averaging above 155 in verbal and 4 in AWA)

  • Current plan: delay my test by one week to March 14th, give the third PowerPrep on the 11’th to reinforce my plan.

  • Hard deadline: I must submit my official scores through ETS by March 31st

My Question: How can I best use these next 7 days to address my quant inconsistency and careless errors? Any specific strategies or resources would be greatly appreciated.

I would really appreciate any help I can get.

My plan was as follows:

Today Day 0, Exam (messed it up)

Day 1: Rest
Day 2: Review mistakes from PP2 and Gregmat tests
Day 3: Review Knowledge gaps/difficult sections
Day 4: Timed Sections (to prevent time crunch)
Day 5: PowerPrep Plus 1
Day 6: Review mistakes (if any) from PP+ 1 and Rest
Day 7: Rest & Review
Day 8: Exam Day

Why not reschedule for the 21st and give yourself another week?

Fixing mistakes on PP2 and Gregmat tests doesn’t address the things you don’t know you’re weak with. To fix foundation we need a comprehensive approach. You don’t talk about strategies, either.

I would use today to watch the Quant progression video and reformulate a plan that addresses all its areas as best you can. Your plan skips a bunch of areas.

I see, but if I delay it to the 21’st, would I be able to deliver the result to my institute by the 31’st?

Also, My strategy when it comes to solving quant is essentially like the one Greg taught: Solve the easier questions first and leave the difficult ones until the last. The problem I faced here is that questions I thought I could solve ended up eating more of my time.
